Ahhh! I KNOW what it is! This question has intrigued mankind since the beginning of time, has stared us in the face on a daily basis forever but only an extremely small percentage of us cares to use it! The failure of us not controlling what each of us can use is evident all around us too! Everyday we hear and see in the news how this is a problem and that is a problem, etc. Give-me-a-break! To begin with, none of these things are the problems, they are only the "symptoms" of something bigger. Finding solutions to symptoms are very short lived and wastes of time in the end because the underlying causes are usually always still intact. So, forget about the Solution… for now and define the Problem first!

In the United States, some people will tell you that the problem is crime, or the educational system, or poverty, or some combination of the three. Religious fanatics will say a lack of belief in God. The opposing parties in Government will blame the other for society’s shortcomings. The poor blame the affluent for being too greedy and the affluent look at the poor as being too lazy! Young is too reckless and the Old is too slow… WHATEVER! I could go on and on about who blames whom for the problems we all face, but you know what? None of that matters! Sure, there is some element of truth in everything just mentioned but the bottom line is that these are all symptoms of the problems we face as a race of people and nation. Not the problem! Addressing any one of those aforementioned "issues," by themselves, will do as much as a bucket of water thrown on a raging house fire… nothing! As it pertains to the African-American Race, illegitimate birth rates are extremely out of control. When 71% of all births in 2007 were to unwed mothers and single black women, it may seem like the problem but it is not. In fact, it is a SYMPTOM of a larger problem. An illegitimate birth is an outward manifestation of a poor, shortsighted mentality. What do I mean? Poor people (especially financially but also mentally) are the OVERWHELMINGLY cooperates of that sad but true fact. Why is this the case? It is because most poor people do not focus on the long-term implications of their actions. They are more concerned (rightly or wrongly so) with the drama (or eye candy) in front of their face than the possibilities over the horizon. How can you tell? Well, if they were committed to the possibilities over the horizon, they would easily see that future prosperity is a fleeting joke when giving birth as an unwed mother: shortsighted objectives (if they could be call such!) PEOPLE WHO LEARN HOW TO EVALUATE LIFE FROM A LONG-TERM PROSPECTIVE DO NOT ENGAGE IN IRREPARABLE, SHORTSIGHTED ACTIONS.
